No Tricks Just a Treat

I love to look for teacher gifts at Bath and Body Works. They are now carrying small trays that are cute for jewelry, perfumes, or any little item. I combined the little trays with a bottle of the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin lotion. An added benefit of buying gifts at Bath and Body Works is that they will put your items together in one of their clear bags tied off with their ribbon. If you need a quick and easy gift for someone this is a great convenience. To finish off the bags, I just made a round sticker tag and placed it right on the front of the bag. These little treats are going to Shelly's four teachers.

At Tech

On Friday evening we went to Virginia Tech to see our niece and nephew. John's family also came from Virginia Beach. So, we all convened at our niece's house and stayed the night. On Saturday we spent a little time downtown shopping and then ate lunch at the dining hall. We always have a good time when we're in Blacksburg!

I made a cake and we celebrated John's upcoming birthday

Roarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

I'm making a Halloween costume for Lily. Even though she's not really of the trick or treating age she still likes to dress up when the neighborhood gets together.
So, I'm creating a lion costume for her. It seemed only fitting that a girl with tons and tons of hair that flows in the wind should be a lion for Halloween.

Here is the costume, so far:

A store bought shirt and I'm adding the fur trim. The brown part are a pair of leggings.

Fur cuffs for the sleeves

Fur ears attached to a headband

The ears and a suede and fur trimmed tail that I made

The fluffy tail

Poofy tulle skirt with three shades of browns/tans

More photos to come once the costume is complete and Lily is wearing it. Stay tuned!

Bedroom Part 2

Yesterday I reminisced about my childhood bedroom. I have few photos of it and I wanted to document the girls' rooms with a blog post. So, today I am sharing Shelly's room with you. Keep in mind I didn't do any straightening of the rooms prior to picture taking. This is Shelly's room:

Bedrooms Part 1

In the 70's, I had my own bedroom in a house on Abbey Drive. I have very vivid memories of that room. It had pink shag carpet and a set of twin beds (the same bunk beds my sisters used and the same ones that Lily now has in here room). My room had a complete wall of book shelves and I used the bottom shelf as a desk. My Madame Alexander dolls were on the top shelf to ward against anyone touching them and my red record player sat on my dresser in that room. An Olivia Newton John poster hung on one of the walls. It was a promotional poster that I got for free from one of the local record shops. My beds were covered in the sweetest bedspreads with tiny flowers covering them. It was the perfect pink room for a girl in the 70's. Almost all of my bedroom memories are housed in my head. There are very few photos of my room.

So, I decided to take some impromptu photos of the girls' rooms. I didn't run around and clean the nooks and crannies. So these are real images of what their bedrooms look like right now. Today I'm sharing the pictures of Lily's room. And I hope that these photos will help her when she's in her 40's and trying to remember what her room looked like.

Cheering Wrap Up

Shelly had her final football game on Saturday. The girls did a great job cheering away for their team. Love their happy attitudes and smiling faces. Now, they will start practicing for a cheer competition they are attending in November.
