Super Random

Here are a few very random things I snapped photos of around the house.

I added this fun magnetic chevron board that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. It replaced my Keep Calm and Carry On print.

After searching all winter for a brownish tan purse, I finally found one I liked at Target. The material is super soft and flexible. When I bought this purse, I also purchased a new wallet that is mint green. I got a great deal. It was buy one get the other wallet/purse item 50% off. So, I bought both the purse and wallet for $40 and I used a gift card I had from my dad! Perfect!

Some more chevron!!!! I bought these little kitchen towels from Etsy seller, Cayson Designs. And, I have no idea why my microwave is photographing so yellow...weird.

Just made some funfetti cupcakes and I realized I had no frosting. So, I whipped up a bit of homemade frosting.

And, that completes the randomness of this post!

Bee---ing a Middle Schooler

I was just reflecting on a little sign I made for Lily when she graduated from 5th grade. I made it to help her remember to be a part of her middle school experience and not just sit back and watch it all happen.

I loved junior high (we weren't a middle school in the 80s). I loved being a club member, a happy student, and even a sporting spectator (I wasn't terribly athletic at the time).  I wanted to encourage that feeling of being a part of something bigger in Lily, as well.
Here I am at the age of 12!

As I looked over my words of middle school wisdom, I was thrilled to see that Lily has been following those little pieces of advice. And, my guess is that she's doing it without even referencing these thoughts.

Oh, and I love that she asked me to make a smaller version of the "Beeing a Middle Schooler" sheet for inside her locker.

Lady Jag Volleyball Player

Lily dedicated most of her time over the past eight months to gaining and improving her volleyball skills. And, she has worked hard, both on and off the court to prepare herself for try outs for her middle school team.

And, yesterday she came home and opened her try-outs letter to find out she had made the team! I couldn't be happier for her. She put her mind to it and she achieved her goal. Super proud of my volleyball girl!!!

My parents were married on this date in 1956. So glad they married, had three daughters, and spent their lives living happily ever after.

Nails, a Cat, and a Dress Form

There's nothing more fun, when you're 12, than to spend a Saturday evening doing your nails.

Daisy was there to hang out with her during the salon event.

About a month ago we found a dress form for Lily's room. It has been so much fun to style her outfits on it and it's even cute when it's just holding her purse.

I also found a cute bulletin board to put next to it. I thought it would be fun for Lily to post her magazine inspirations on it. But, I love the other idea she had for it...to hang her long necklaces along with the magazine images. She's a clever girl.

Valentine's Day Sweetness

We had a small and happy little Valentine's Day gift exchange among the four of us. We keep things pretty simple for this holiday. John and I don't really exchange gifts (just some chocolates) and I always like to get the girls a little jewelry.

I try to find something different and unique. This year I found them these sweet rings from this great Etsy shop. Cute and sweet. They love them and haven't taken them off!!!

I also include candy, a magazine, gum, and nail polish in their gift bags.

Oh, and I didn't take any photos, but we just enjoyed (a couple of days late) our annual cafeteria Valentine's day dinner!

My Funny Valentine

Here is one of my favorite photos of John and me. It was taken by my friend, Bonnie, in 1997 (this is actually a magnet she made for us of the photo). We had only been dating for a month at this point. And, we were head over heels in love. I think it shows on our faces!

He is still my Valentine---16 years later. And here is the song that we had sung at our wedding:

I love you, John!!!!

Happy Birthday, Sister

Today is my sister, Linda's, birthday. She's the snazzy one on the right (my other snazzy sister, Kathy, is on the left!).
Hope your day is terrific...just like you!!!
Miss and love ya.

The girls pulled out the Play Doh set from Christmas. Fun was had by all and it's always a good idea to put some of those gifts away at Christmas.

Lily painting her own toenails. She was going for a chevron look.

Shelly sent me this collage she created while riding in the back of the car.

Check out that furry face.

Falling for chevron!!!

Insta Friday Round 2

So, here I am again with my Instagram photos for the week. I'm linking up with Life Rearranged Insta-Friday.

I added the Vine app and I'm giving it a whirl.

On Tuesday, the weather was so awesome. So, the girls were outside playing and Lily was working on her volleyball skills.

Lily wore a new dress for "Dress to Impress" spirit day at school.

Daisy at home chilling out.

Me and my annoying bangs. I really need to do something about them!

On Monday, Shelly & I searched the internet for paintings by Monet. Here are a few we found.
