Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! More busy stuff for today. Shelly's school party, running errands with Lily while Shelly's at school, my parents are arriving, and getting ready for trick or treating. Amidst the busy-ness, here are pictures from the week. John and his cake, some treats for Lily's teachers, and pumpkin carving:

Happy Day Hot Daddy

Today is this man's special day.

We have kept the celebrations pretty simple, but I think he has enjoyed it all. The girls and I found some little goodies for him that we thought he might like. He is a tough one to purchase for at birthdays. But, all in all, I think he was happy with what we gave him...clothes, Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, and Mighty Putty just to name a few things!

We still have the popular Carvel's ice cream cake to devour and tomorrow night we'll take him out for a celebratory dinner.

Dr. Laura

I am a follower of Dr. Laura and agree with most of her morals and values. I just got this email message about her latest video and I really thought it was a good one to share. Her message is important and so many times I find myself doing exactly what she mentions we shouldn't be doing. So, on with the video:

Halloween Treat Toppers

So, this week I am gearing up for all things Halloween. I am making treat toppers for the little bag of treats for Shelly's class. I will also fill some bags with goodies for her teachers. And, I am making treat toppers for Lily's teachers, as well. I used this kit to create these fun little Halloween bag toppers. I print these out on this paper, fold in half and staple them to the top of my plastic treat bags.

The Pool, The Farm & The Fair

Wow, I am worn out! It has been a busy and longggggggggg week.

John got the pool ready for closing on Sunday and on Monday the pool guys were here with the cover. Boo...sad to see it all covered up now.

Shelly and I went to a super cute little farm on Wednesday and had a blast checking out the pumpkin patch, the cows, the chickens, the pigs, and the corn maze. Fun!!!

Then on Thursday Lily and I went with her 3rd grade to the NC state fair in Raleigh. I had never been to a state fair so it was all new for both of us. There were tons of rides, animals, and FOOD! Lily loved every minute of it. I loved about every other minute of it (I became a little obsessed with watching the 13-16 year old girls who were just hanging out. I imagined they were hooking up with the carnival guys and became completely grossed out at the thought!). Overall, it was a good time with perfect weather.

And on Friday night, 14 of us went to the theater and saw High School Musical 3. We got into the 3:45 show and there were hardly any people there. It was a really cute movie with lots of singing and dancing. The kids all enjoyed it and all of the moms were crying at the end...can't believe I'm admitting that! After HSM3 we had dinner with 9 kids and 5 moms at Macaroni Grille. The children were excellent and we got some sweet comments from the waitress. That always makes a mom feel good!
