Laptop Lady & Randomness

Random bits -

I love to watch Shelly kick back on the couch and play on the laptop. Her favorite game of choice is Webkinz.

I have done three loads of laundry today.

I made Snickerdoodle cookies.

We ate lunch.

I prepared eggs for egg salad sandwiches tonight.

I am monitoring the many sprinkler systems outside that are keeping the grass seed watered.

I have a 3rd grade meeting tonight at Lily's school.

We organized the rooms upstairs today.

I am waiting for a call back from the doctor for Shelly's appointment.

Looking forward to meeting up with a friend on Friday.

We have several free weekends coming up...making some plans to fill them up.

Thankful for my family.

My Faithful Blog Reader Comes to Visit

One of my most faithful blog readers was here this weekend for a visit!! My sister, Kathy, came to Greensboro for a conference and stayed on to visit us for the weekend. The girls loved hanging out with funny Aunt Kathy. They played dueling computer music games and talked about dogs and any other animal they could think of.

She even tagged along with us to the annual Fall Festival at Lily's elementary school. She was smart enough to bring along her camera and snapped lots of shots at the festival (thanks, Kath). Fun times. We hope her next visit won't be far off and we look forward to heading to DC to see her, as well.

Fancy Shirt

Shelly received her monthly birthday gift from my parent's on Saturday and couldn't wait to wear her new shirt to school on Monday. She felt like a big girl in her fancy new duds and she looked like a big girl to mommy! :(
Time sure flies. She is almost through her first month of Pre-K and before you know it she'll be heading off to Kindergarten on that big bus. Oh my! What will I do? No, really...what will I do!!!!?

Trip to UVA

This weekend we took a trip to Charlottesville to visit Britt. We joined Mary Katherine, Pratty, Kaden, and Sylvia for all kinds of fun. The weather was perfect and we got to see Britt play field hockey and co-ed soccer. The girls loved seeing their cousins and we enjoyed the super weather and company. Can't wait to do it again.

Here are some of the pictures from our time at the soccer field on Sunday afternoon.

Shoe Issues

Shelly got these super cute sparkly shoes at Target at the end of August. I thought they were so cute and would be perfect for school. So we picked up another pair of black shoes and considered her all set. Well, after wearing the shoes for about 10 minutes, she decided they no longer felt good and so back to Target both pairs went.
As an aside, what is the deal with Target and their super tight return policy. Drives me nuts!!!
Anyway...I selected another cute pair of pink shoes for her from Target and then went to Kohl's and found a pair of black shoes for her. And guess what??? Neither of those pairs fit her. So, the moral of this story:
1. put on the shoes in the store and take her out of the cart to walk around
2. and bring her along for the shoe shopping adventure
Looks like I may have to ditch the cheapo shoes for this little girl and head on over to this spot.

Documenting the Day

Wanted to be sure I had the ear piercing well documented for Lily. So, I did a little digi scrapping of it. Here it is:

Sunday, September 14, 2008

"Daddy said I could..."

get her ears pierced!!! So, off we went to Claire's to get the job done. The previous agreement was age 13 for ear piercing, but somewhere along the way the age kept lowering and finally we just gave into it. We realized it really wasn't that big of a deal to let her have them done now. She was thrilled and FULL of nervousness as we entered the store. She selected the sweetest little CZ floral earrings and the saleslady got busy with ear prepping. This seemed to take quite a long time and I could see that Lily was getting more anxious than ever. (Notice her holding mousey blanket!)Finally, the piercing was completed and I got a smile out of her. The smile quickly faded and she went into I'm-about-to-faint mode! I had her sit on the stool for a while until the color came back to her face and she was ready to stand. She selected three sets of earrings and we hurriedly checked out. Once in the car, she began to calm down and I got her a cheeseburger and iced water. After relaxing and enjoying her lunch, she was good as new. And loving her new earrings!

Monkeying Around

The other night Shelly was playing around with some oranges. Thought these were cute of her. Not sure where she learned to do this little trick...her sister, perhaps?

We have really been enjoying our company this month. We still have another visit to go with my sister, Kathy. That should be a fun time. The girls can't wait to see her.

The girls are all in the groove of school. They are both enjoying their classes and their teachers.

Not much else to report. Life is good.

Deer in the Clubhouse

Lily has created a little clubhouse in the trees in our backyard. Today the neighborhood deer came for a visit to play in the clubhouse. So, this is what I saw out the back window. That's the slide for the pool off to the sideGetting ready to go home to the woodsPerspective...the pool and the deer not too far away
