Sweetness

Just stopping in to post a little digi layout of the girls from the other day. The weather was absolutely perfect for the three days (Wed. - Fri.) we needed it to be. And then on Saturday, the rain started falling and so did the temps. It's still raining and still chilly. Hoping we might see the sun again, soon. Have a great week!

Happy birthday, Mom!!!

Today is my mother's birthday!!! We called her today and sang to her. We also let her know that we went bowling in her honor. Not that she likes to bowl, but we did something to celebrate since we couldn't be with her. I hope she has a wonderful day. We love and miss you bunches!!! She's the little one on the left. For a more recent photo, see the earlier post celebrating my father's birthday.

Spring Break Ending...

Spring Break is coming to an end. Boo Hoo. The girls and I went out of the house today (in the car) for the first time since Sunday afternoon. We needed a break from it all. So, we took a field trip to PetSmart to find out about guinea pigs. They are cute little animals and Lily and I both held one. Shelly even petted one. Then we hit Old Navy and The Children's Place to check out their spring and summer fashions. Lily is looking forward to some cute new bermudas in her future and Shelly checked out a few pairs of shorts, as well. We took a nice little stroll around the outside shopping center and hit another pet store (the icky one in my opinion). Then Lily requested that we enjoy our lunch at Macaroni Grille. So the girls and I went there and got mac 'n cheese, cheese pizza, and the insalata blue salad. After a yummy lunch, we hit the library. Lily was looking for guinea pig books and I wanted some pool books. Lily didn't find any on the guinea pigs and I found one on swimming pools. I wish someone made a "neighborhood/backyard" pool book and not the pools from the French Riviera and the Tuscan villages. I want something a bit more realistic. Anyway...here are the day's photos from the pool construction. As of today, the digging and installation are done. Now we wait a bit for the rest of the process while the pool settles.

The beginning...

Ok, yesterday we started the pool construction. (Some before photos)The guys arrived at 7:45 AM to begin digging the hole for our pool. The girls and I were really excited and stood by to watch the big ground breaking. They started by moving our tree. The day continued with more digging and more watching. Things came to a halt around noon. The girls checked out the new steps for the pool. We could see the beginnings of the deep end by the end of the day.

As day 2 began, we had several people lined up to come to the house for various reasons. The pool guys were back at 7:30 and got going quickly. Then the shade guy showed up to put up some shades in the kitchen. We have lived here for 5 years with beaming sunshine in our face at dinner time. So, today we solved that problem. Then the Terminix guy came for the second time in a week to rid us of our ant problem. The concrete guy showed up around 2:00 and the electrician stopped by at 3:00. During all of this, we invited two of the girls friends over for the day. We even found time to make some chocolate lollipops (a la Jon & Kate...if you saw the episode from Monday where they made them at their aunt's house). At the end of day 2, we have what is looking like a pool in the backyard (sans water, of course). It was a busy day, but some of the big decisions are being made and we are moving forward.
A little note: the more technical photos were posted for people like my mom and dad who would be interested in the process of the construction. I know this isn't super interesting for most people.

The girls wanted a live action movie of the pool. so here you go:

Happy Birthday Pop!!!

Today is my dad's birthday. My card is late getting to him so here is my blog card for now!!!! Hope your day is super just like you. Love and miss you!!!

Wall

John and I decided over the summer that it would be fun to collect some items to put on our wall by the guest bedroom. We both like funny, whimsical things that don't really scream ADULT. So, we went with some off the wall items and it is continuing to evolve. The fun part is incorporating a wide variety of things...some old, some new, and some not so conventional. Though the collection is small I feel its momentum building. Incidentally, the wall is next to the bathroom with the restroom sign and the glowing blue water faucet.

Easter Eggstravaganza

Yes, another corny title...Oh well!!! So, Saturday morning we were up and going and ready to decorate some Easter eggs. We pulled out the kits and got going. The finished products were decent and even the Spring animals stopped to check them out.

By Sunday morning we were ready for all of the Easter excitement. The girls got us up at 6:40 and the hunt for the baskets and the eggs began. Shelly's was behind a chair and Lily's was in the dryer. They enjoyed going through and checking out their sunglasses, Crayola pads, candy, and other goodies.

After the baskets and egg hunting it was on to church and brunch. The girls had fun at Sunday school and we headed off to Printworks for our brunch. While we were there we had some impromptu photo sessions...some people in the group were more cooperative than others! Brunch was delicious...Croque Monsieur, Warm Beignets, French Toast, Mac 'N cheese, and a Roquefort cheeseburger.

After brunch we came home for a quick break. The girls and I put together some little treats for the neighborhood friends. Then it was off to the Knox's annual Easter Egg hunt. The weather was great...sunny and mild temps...just right for hunting and chatting. Good times!!!

The day ended and we are all looking forward to Spring and new beginnings. But guess what??? There were snowflakes when we woke up this morning...ugh! So where is Spring?
