05.31.07

Well, I have been a neglectful blogger and for that I apologize. Lily finished her 1st grade school year on Friday and Shelly completed her little school this afternoon. In between all of that we have been keeping busy with various fun times. Here are the photos to prove the fun times:

Shelly's Last Day:

I also created a tray with some art supplies to keep us all busy this summer. Found the inspiration on this blog who found it in the Rachael Ray magazine.

Tomorrow will be the first official day of summer for both girls. Lily and I have been creating a list of things to do and it is pretty extensive. I think we'll wait a few days and then get started on that list. Life is a highway...

Happiness...school will be out soon...just two more days!!!! Here are those teacher gifts I put together. The ones for the girls' teachers also had a key chain with their initials.

And, on Sunday, the girls (and daddy) set up the lemonade stand. Here they are enjoying making a few extra bucks!!!

Everything is WRAPPING up and I love that feeling. I finished up the last PTA meeting for this school year last night and Lily had her awards ceremony this morning. She has her horseback riding lessons tomorrow afternoon and then we will be done on Friday!

I haven't been feeling so great today so I decided to put my time to good use and troll around the internet. So, here are some of my latest and greatest finds. There are so many great things happening at the etsy shops...check 'em out!!!

1. These little containers are so adorable and the site has a list of great uses.

2. Wouldn't this be sweet on your patio table?

3. I think I may be stopping at Target for this little sweetie tomorrow!!!

4. I am so fascinated by all of these skulls lately. I guess it's inappropriate for my 7 year-old to sport this design, huh?

5. This just shouts out Spring to me.

6. I have absolutely no use for this, but I love the colors and the design...always a fun site.

7. Super cool stickers made by a really unique designer...check out the other goodies in this shop.

8. Love this top. I think I might try to create my own.

9. I want these little bits of sparkle to adorn every one of my scrapbook pages.

School will be wrapping up this week. So, that means I am working on the teacher gifts. Fortunately, I was able to donate money toward gift certificates for both of the girls' teachers. But, I came up with a simple little idea for the specialist teachers at Lily's school and for both of girls' teachers. It's a little ice cream dish with a spoon and then some chocolate candies inside and a gift certificate to Cold Stone Creamery. Here are the tags I made to go with the (12) gifts:
I printed these out and put them on cardstock. I'll take some pictures of the little gifts and post them soon. We had the annual end of the year pool party yesterday. This is always a fun time and we were there from 1:00 - 9:30!!! Fun, fun, fun!!! Lots of busy-ness next week...love the end of the school year...always have!!!

05.16.07

Last night before going to bed at 2 a.m., I came up with a list of things I needed to accomplish today. This was the list:

  • Find out how to make someone a Pampered Chef consultant

  • Create my own color coded filing system based on this one

  • Organize and purge computer cabinets

  • Organize and purge manuals for our various electronics, appliances, etc.

And, my mission was accomplished by 11 a.m. I decided that I could create some type of similar color coded filing system for much less than the asking price of the one above. And, I did. It isn't the prettiest, but I used the things I already had on hand and managed to create something that looks and feels efficient. One of the file drawers still needs some attention in the Lily & Shelly files. So, that one looks especially full. Here are some photos of what I was going for and what I got. (Sorry my photos are so blurry):

I'm planning to go to Michael's this afternoon and purchase a bigger decorative box to store all of my manuals. I weeded through all of those and disposed of things we no longer own or use. Good feeling. I am feeling much better about the filing and the organizing. Off to fold laundry.

More random thoughts:

1. I found some great decorative boxes at Michael's today and they were on sale for $5!!! I am using two of them in my computer/office/study (obviously not sure what we call this room). One box for paid bill receipts and the other for a collection of personal items (wedding invites, sweet cards, mementos, etc.). I also have two in the den under the side table. Those are holding some books and sundries of John's. I think I'll go back tomorrow for more. They have a larger version that I might add to the collection. I love a good container!!!!!!

2. Lily got a pair of pajamas for her birthday that came with an eye mask for sleeping. She thinks this is the greatest thing and wears it to bed and actually falls asleep with it on. I laughed so hard when I saw her wearing it the other night and had to share photos of her sound asleep in her mask. Oh, and I also wanted you all to see the girls sleeping together int he twin bed. So sweet...I call them my little kittens.

3. Shelly was playing upstairs and just zonked out mid stream. Here she is surrounded by her toys.

4. Lily received a cute little sewing machine for her birthday. She has made three small pillows and a little blanket, so far. Here she is modeling her pillow and Shelly shows off her little Dora pillow that sissy made her.

5. There are only 7.5 days of school left. And, we are done with homework for the remainder of the school year. Happy day!

6. I am offended by people who take advantage of others...even when it doesn't directly effect me.

7. I am in awe of people who so freely give of themselves and never ask for anything in return.

8. Each day I continue to think about and pray for this couple.
